Insomnia

Along with diet and exercise, sleep is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle. Good quality sleep helps us feel good throughout the day and is vital for our health and wellbeing. If we do not sleep well, or do not get enough of it, the effects on our health can be wide ranging.

Lack of sleep affects many areas of your life and often results in being stressed, anxious, short tempered, lacking in energy and motivation and/or exhaustion and can affect your ability to cope with life.  What is more, with serious sleep disorders such as insomnia, the inability to sleep can become an obsession, thus exacerbating the problem.  Going to bed already worrying that you are not going to sleep and will not be able to cope with the next day ahead is actually the thing which is stopping you sleeping, but it seems impossible to not worry about it if you have fallen into the habit.

Insomnia can also increase our risk of heart disease and high blood pressure if the condition becomes chronic.

When we sleep, our body repairs itself and restores our energy levels. It is also a time when the mind works hard to discharge the emotional content of the day’s events and our thoughts regarding those events, through the process of Rapid Eye Movement sleep. We replenish the feel-good hormones serotonin and dopamine, which help protect us against negative, depressive thinking, boosting our mood and helping us maintain an efficient immune system.

Sleeping too much is almost as big a problem and often occurs with depression  The problem with sleeping too much is that in certain phases of sleep, the brain is working very hard – overdo it and you end up exhausting yourself in your sleep and then you are encouraged to sleep again which can become a vicious circle.

Common sleep disorders include:-

  • Insomnia
  • Difficulty getting to sleep
  • Waking up in the middle of the night
  • Waking up too early
  • Difficulty Waking up

hypnotherapy works by helping to reduce our general level of anxiety, which can have an immediate response on our sleep pattern. When our underlying anxiety is addressed, we approach life from a healthier, more positive perspective. This can lead not only to better sleep but also to better health, better relationships, and a greater feeling of control over our lives.

My Values & Beliefs

My Work Must Bring Positive Changes

I aim for the greater good and treating paitents with EMDR is my way of doing so. I will never force upon a person a negative experience and I will make an extreme amount of effort to not do so.

I Believe That EMDR Is The Quickest And Most Effective Method To Treating Trauma

Before I became a practitioner in EMDR I wanted to help people suffering from all types of trauma. Having found a way that is quick and precise, I trained extensively to deliver this method to help those who are in greater need than myself.

I Will Always Champion People Who Wish To Seek Help

Seeking help in itself is a daunting task to those with mental issues. I will never, ever, put a person down for seeking my help, or help in general. I will instill confidence and praise in my patients that go beyond their treatment as a personal goal, not a professional one.
