Sports Performance

It’s in the mind

Whatever your sport, and at whatever level you participate, there is one undeniable truth. The thing that separates a great performance from an average performance is our mind. In fact, it is estimated that up to 90% of a person’s game is mental.

Our thoughts and emotions have a direct effect on the way that our bodies respond. Fears, doubts or pressure of competition can turn an easy shot into a nightmare. In other words, to play your best game you must think like a professional!

You may never be able to turn your hips like Tiger Woods but imagine how much your game would improve if you could think the way he does!

Stop letting your perceived limitations get in they way of fulfilling your potential.

Anything which we practice enough, such as our golf swing, eventually gets handed over to our subconscious mind to control so we don’t need to consciously think about it anymore.

The problem is that when the pressure is on, or we hit ‘the wall’, our conscious mind starts interfering with the process.

Have you noticed how international rugby players visualise a penalty kick before they take it. They are not focusing on their limitations but visualising the successful flight of the ball through the posts so that their body and mind is preparing for success. Hence their success rate is extremely high.

We tend to consciously focus on what we can’t do and what we don’t want, we beat ourselves up when we get something wrong, and let this affect the rest of our game – often ruining our performance and enjoyment.

Working with your natural talent and ability, we can help you consolidate your skills and build your consistency, concentration, and coordination.

We can also help you become more motivated, positive and disciplined in your training, so you are better able to cope with setbacks or physical discomfort and stay focused.

I can help you to focus and reach what the professionals call ‘in the zone’ – that almost effortless state where your performance seems to flow automatically – where you can effectively get out of your own way and enjoy playing at your best with confidence.

  • Overcome self-doubt and increase your self-confidence
  • Increase your concentration so you can focus on playing your best
  • Increase your motivation and determination
  • Eliminate negative thinking and improve your attitude
  • Reduce performance anxieties and eliminate limiting fears – such as fear of failure, fear of success, fear of humiliation, fear of competition, and feelings of intimidation
  • Increase your enjoyment of your sport
  • Improve your attitude and your technique

In short, we can help carry you to the heights of personal best by helping you prepare mentally for your sport at whatever level you participate. We can’t promise to turn an average player into an international champion, but we can help you to perform to the best of your natural ability so you can really enjoy your game.

My Values & Beliefs

My Work Must Bring Positive Changes

I aim for the greater good and treating paitents with EMDR is my way of doing so. I will never force upon a person a negative experience and I will make an extreme amount of effort to not do so.

I Believe That EMDR Is The Quickest And Most Effective Method To Treating Trauma

Before I became a practitioner in EMDR I wanted to help people suffering from all types of trauma. Having found a way that is quick and precise, I trained extensively to deliver this method to help those who are in greater need than myself.

I Will Always Champion People Who Wish To Seek Help

Seeking help in itself is a daunting task to those with mental issues. I will never, ever, put a person down for seeking my help, or help in general. I will instill confidence and praise in my patients that go beyond their treatment as a personal goal, not a professional one.
